A quick rant about backign up photos and data. Firstly it’s absolutely essential that data is backed up effectively.
For years I’ve been using external hard drives to back up data. It’s served me well but now means I have a whole slew of backup drives including their associated cables, power packs and all the rest. I have tried the Western Digital My Book range and found them to be annoying (they inexplicably turn off) and the software means other items don’t automatically get recognised when plugged in.
On the other hand the Drobo system is incredible. So much so I’ve just bought a second unit and ripped the hard drives out of the My Books to use in the Drobo.
