Lismore Wedding Photography

Monday, June 28th, 2010

Just realised I haven’t posted a slideshow of any wedding photography for a while so I have put one together of a recent wedding. The ceremony was held at the Lismore Uniting Church and the reception was at Summerland House / The House With No Steps. Kristen and Chris had a great ceremony in the church that boasted ornate woodwork done by generations of Chris’ family.

The reception speeches were enlightening to say the least. Chris and his brothers must have driven their parents mental as boys and teenagers. I think Kristen’s family have their share of fun times too with Kristen’s father and grandfather presenting Chris with the family heirloom tyre swan shown in a previous post here.

Unique Family Heirloom Photographed at a Recent North Coast NSW Wedding

Thursday, May 27th, 2010

I love the unique family idiosyncrasies that come out at weddings. At a recent wedding I photographed at Lismore and Alstonville, the guests were treated to something new as the Father and Grandfather of the bride passed down a family heirloom to the groom. Once common in its natural environment of the yards of Australian suburbia, the item in question is now an endangered species. The rarity of the item made the hand over so much more poignant.

The heirloom was a pristine white tyre swan. Stunning. I want one.

Australian Story to Feature Amazing Tale of Bride, Byron Bay Wedding Photography

Monday, May 10th, 2010

A couple of years ago I had the pleasure of photographing the wedding of one of the most amazing and inspirational women. When Matti and Clent were married, I got to know their story and now too is the rest of the world. I just found out that next week Australian Story on the ABC will run the first of a two part story on the bride, Matti – and trust me, it’s a must see story.

In a nutshell, Matti was among the best of the best in the Australian Army. She was seconded to the UN and was working in the Middle East when everything went pear shaped between Israel and Lebanon. Under fire, she managed to escape from the position she was in, then her convoy was attacked and she got blown up while leading them to safety. That was the military side of things. Then there was the red tape side of things.

To me, Matti is a true hero. She deserves to be awarded the highest of accolades and be held in our highest esteem. Until now her story has only been known to a few people and brushed under the carpet by Governments and Military. Basically because she was a woman caught in front line action where the Australian Government say women should not be but there’s much more to it than that. Make sure you tune in next Monday, the 17th of May.

Originally from Northern NSW, Matti returned to the area for her wedding at Casuarina Lodge in the hills behind Byron Bay. I’ll post some pics tomorrow when I am in the studio.

Bigger and Better Things. New Wedding Photography Studio for Byron Bay, Lismore and Ballina

Friday, April 16th, 2010

I am about to shake things up with a move to a bigger and better studio space. I’ll have a dedicated meeting area for talking to brides and grooms of the Northern Rivers about their wedding photography. I’ll also be able to comfortably meet with people from Byron Bay, Ballina and Lismore to talk about their portrait photography needs. That means all the messy parts of my studio where I shoot stock photos will be kept hidden away.

So where will this mystery wedding photography studio be located? Don’t tell anyone just yet because I haven’t got all the t’s crossed and i’s dotted but I am not going too far. In fact, it’s just next door to my existing studio.
