Surf Photography Rather Than Wedding Photography This Weekend

No weddings for me to photograph this weekend but I did get to have some fun with an old lens I haven’t used for years. Dragged out an old Tamron 200-400mm lens to grab some shots of the wild surf that is currently hitting the coast. Even though the lens is a POS I had a ball and am now keen to buy a decent super telephoto and do some more of this sort of stuff.

North Wall at Ballina was out of control at something like 18ft but Lennox Head was handling up to around 14ft or so. Way too big for me to go and get wet so I took the girls down for a picnic lunch and grabbed some shots. Here’s a quick vid I made from some images and a pic of the moment when it all went pear shaped.
